Hi all Smile

I currently live at home with my parents, which I have done for years. I was hoping to move out May/June time. I'll still be staying in the local area- our town is pretty small.

I wanted to know if this will possibly hinder my child's school place? We get allocated them in April.

Thanks so much!

If your new address is out of catchment, I'd wait until your child starts school. Then you can move where you want.

School places are given in April here :) I'll be staying local to the school, don't plan to move out of the area. Just hoping it doesn't hinder anything...

The rules are that any application is on the basis of where the child is living most of the school week on the 15th January and also on April 16th, when the allocations are announced.
I would definitely not move till after April 16th. However you have a duty to inform the LA when you have moved so the later it is and the nearer to starting at school in September the better. I say that because some LAs have adopted a stance that they expect you also to be in the same address when school starts in September.
