Farnham or guildford

I've seen in the past that this has been a very popular discussion so I'm hoping you can help us.
We are looking to relocate from clapham to either farnham or guildford.
We really think that the family life with great choices of houses are better in farnham but worry that it's quite elderly quiet town with not much going on where as guildford has a real hub bub of activities but feel there is a great divide between rich and poor when it comes to housing. Finding good state schools primary are better in farnham but secondary are better in guildford. Can anyone help with some advice on either place or both?

Looks like Weydon School in Farnham is the highest performing secondary in either of the towns.

i like guildford its a nice place just avoid park barn

If you move to Farnham and want your child to go to Weydon then you really need to send them to one of the primary feeder schools to stand a chance of getting in as the catchment area is tiny!

Guildford is much better connected to London if you need to commute. As the previous poster said, you need to attend a Weydon feeder to get in to Weydon - All Hallows is also good if you are Catholic but the other secondaries are not so great. Guildford has George Abbot and County which both have good reputations but you need to choose your location wisely - as you say there is a bit of a split in Guildford but the town is lovely and there is lots to do. You can’t go wrong with either tbh, Farnham is more rural, less well connected but probably has more character.

I will like to find out if you eventually made the move either to Farnham or Guildford.I am in a bit of pickle trying to decide between both cities.I really do love the city vibes of guildford and leaning more here.I know its been a while since there has been a response here.Hoping someone reads this
