Is that Bancroft in Woodford? Not sure what LEH is. My DC sat the 7+ at Bancroft some years back and was offered a place.

Hi
Thanks for your reply. I am referring Bancroft at Woodford and Lady Elenor Holls at Hampton.
Could you suggest me what level details will be required in English paper and maths papers in Bancroft.

You can check Bancroft sample papers on website. It seemed easy compared to others.
These schools are at two opposite ends location wise!!

Gingercat1223 · 05/01/2020 15:43

OP, LEH is a good school but probably not worth a house move for. The intake is very local at 7. Few dd use the school bus network so most live a short drive away. A local pre-prep school is a major feeder making up a large percentage of dd that will accept places. Anyway best of luck as the exam is tomorrow am. The area will be busy as Hampton around the corner have their entrance exam for senior school also tomorrow ( around 800 candidates).

My child did the 7+ at Bancroft around four years ago so what the school is looking for now may be slightly different. From memory, we prepared by going through Bond books and some past papers of various schools. The maths exams covered mental arithmetics, money, time and some geometry.

For English, my child isn’t the strongest but she had do a creative writing piece from a picture of a teapot and teacup and then there was a interview with the head of Prep where he got children to read from a passage and asked them what they enjoyed doing etc.

Hope that helps and good luck.

Thanks very much for details. We are following bond papers and lets.
Yes it is correct that these two schools are at two different ends. We live in East London just 4 miles from Bancroft. However if she gets thru LEH, we will consider to move to near by area.
Are you saying LEH prefers local catchment area based on current address ?

LEH don't prefer it's just not many people would move, you could send your dd to an outstanding primary and move her to LEH at 11 instead.
Hampton is a lovely area and more suburban than East London, I'm sure you can do more investigating tomorrow, good luck with the journey & exam.

We moved to live near LEH from another part of London after our eldest dd was offered a place . It worked out fine. Her sister then attended a local feeder - that worked out fine too. Good luck!

Thanks very much for all the suggestions and input.
My dd got letter to attend group activity in LEH for 7+. Any suggestions what they generally touch base during group activity.

Re LEH next stage, from speaking to a friend it's an observed session of playing games etc. There is nothing you can prepare for.

stuckasastuckthing · 14/01/2020 14:02

My daughter did LEH group activity a couple of years ago and from what she told me they were in small groups (of approx 4) and moved round a number of stations to do puzzles/activities - each station had a teacher who observed, asked questions about what they were doing etc. Agree that nothing really to prepare for, except perhaps if your daughter is very quiet/shy in groups to remind them that it's important to try and say something and equally if they're very chatty and natural leaders to try and let others have a chance to speak/get involved.

Thanks very very much.

sutha27 · 06/02/2020 10:13

my daughter did 7 plus in jan, did anyone get any updates from Bancroft?

dgat · 27/02/2020 10:44

My DD wrote 7+ at Bancrofts and Chigwell. Got into both. We are inclined towards Bancrofts, but will decide in the coming days.

malu1987 · 15/12/2021 22:20

Hi , Could you please give me some idea about the creative writing piece of work ?
