Hello Insightful Mums!

We are currently in Hampstead, but are planning to move to Chiswick in Spring 2020. My DD will be starting her reception year in Sep 2020. We have to submit the list of schools in current council (Camden) by Jan 15. We are planning to give Grove park and Strand on the green as top priorities followed by a couple of schools in Hampstead. We can submit the new Chiswick address to the council by mid April.

Heard that these schools are heavily oversubscribed, what are the chances of my DD getting into one of these schools for reception year?

The local authority will either have an interactive checker or a booklet with the distances from which children were admitted in the last 3 years. That should give you a clear idea of how good a chance you have.

Thank you JoJoSM2! Sry, my question wasn't very clear in the post. My question is - We will be moving to Chiswick in April only, so we will be put in waitlist for the state schools there. Just wanted to understand the chances of getting admission in 'outstanding schools' for waitlisted kids.

I don’t know Chiswick specifically but you might spend a while on the waiting list. The LA will offer you a place at a school that has one but it might not be close by or very desirable. However, even if you start at one of those schools, you can carry on being on the waiting list for the school you want.

You might also want to look schools up on that website as Ofsted reports aren’t always up to date or entirely helpful.
