Good independent primary schools in North London

We are looking to move back in to London and really pulling my hair out to identify a good school for my 3 yr old daughter. She goes to a great private school where we are currently.

Would anyone have some suggestions for good primaries around North London? I have been looking into Stoke Newington, Canonbury, Hampstead area. Cant find very many private schools there. Of the ones that I find opinions are very divided or poor.

If you are in North London and looked into private schools, which independent schools did you choose?

Absolutely not. Ashlyns is a fabulous comprehensive school.

You also have a shot at out of county Grammar places at Chesham Grammar and the two single sex Aylesbury Grammars (although no places for Berko children at Aylesbury High this year).

Hi @anlon17
It all depends what you are looking for...
Hampstead mum of 3 DC.....all now at various places, DS Westminster, DD Channing, youngest still at Heathside Prep ..... Its a fantastic Prep - really child centred and nurturing - gets the best out of every child and has amazing 11+ results. Went through a difficult period two years ago under previous owner - now with Dukes Education Group and amazing new Head. Worth a look.....
Good Luck! :)

Yep @PipaJJ - hearing fantastic things about Heathside again. Another Queen's Scholarship to Westminster this year. Get this..... heard several friends DS at Devonshire House - paid to logged on to Heathside's virtual learning over lockdown as its so good and they were anxious about effect of CoVid on 11+ prep.
@anlon17 - definitely worth a look!

I can't recommend St Mary's Hampstead highly enough if you're looking in North London.

The whole school has been totally transformed and I've been hugely impressed with how forward-looking it is. Fantastic Yr 6 results, nurturing atmosphere, lovely girls, incredible facilities and space. It's a hidden gem.

St. Anthony’s for Girls is fantastic - new school but has a very strong leadership team who are passionate and experienced. My DD very happy and thriving .

I also see they are opening a coed nursery in September 2021- The school is going from strength to strength.

The Boys school, in Hampstead is also good. New Head has great expectations and there is a shuttle service between both schools.

St Anthony’s for Girls is excellent. It has an outstanding leadership team and the current online provision is excellent. My DD is thriving and going from strength to strength.

I am so impressed with the school - I highly recommend it.

@ItsrElative

Hear on the Hampstead Mum's network that major trouble at St Antony's - lots of great staff leaving. Two class teachers off to Devonshire House....

Will watch this space....

@Joy93
We are at St. Anthony’s Girls school, the sister school.

From what we have heard, staff are very happy and the new Head, Richard is excellent.

Staff will come and go, unfortunately! We cannot hold on to staff forever ! (As much as I know a fantastic teacher is hard to find!)
