My son's teacher won't speak to me.

Or even acknowledge my presence anymore.

It all started because some of my son's work hasn't been marked since April.

I wasn't accusory or aggressive in any way when I spoke with her, I simply asked how she thought he was getting on.

Now she is ignoring me.

It's a smallish school, we've only been in the area since January and I'm worried about it because it is a very cliquey area and she is friends with some of the parents in the class.

What should I do?

Wouldn't he have moved classes in September?

He's only got a couple of months. I'd leave it and ask his next teacher after a couple of months into term. It might jot be personal. It may be a teacher who not very experienced and so is on the defensive.

Her behaviour appears very unprofessional and I would hope the issue is lack of experience dealing with parents, but I am guessing that her version of what happened when you spoke to her would be very different from yours.

Bearing in mind how close we are to the end of the year I would just leave it, but if there is any history in the school of a teacher keeping a class from one year to the next (ours did) it might be worth having a word with the head teacher, especially if your school doesn't say who the teacher will be until after term starts.

What about report cards? Are you receiving some kind of progress updates on those?
