In year school applications in Harpenden

Has anyone been through this recently?
New to mumsnet, so apologies if I’m posting in the wrong place!
We are moving to Harpenden next year & will need a need a reception school place for my daughter who is currently in school in north London & we will be applying for a reception place for my daughter who is due to start Sept 2020.
I feel very nervous about timescales as we will be doing in year applications for both.
Will they even be offered places at the same school?
The plan was to let my daughter finish her reception year where she is now & then move in the summer. But am now thinking that’s leaving everything a bit too late to secure both her & her sister places in time!
All wise words, or warnings, welcome!
Thanks x

Not necessarily will they be offered a place at the same school. Assuming you are moving after the Jan 15th deadline both applications will in late/in year so chances are you will get a place at the nearest school with a vacancy in the year groups you require. that may (or may not) be at the same school. If you have an address and are in situ by Jan 15th you can apply on time for your younger child (your elder one may then get priority on the waiting list as a sibling - but only once they start school in September).
