Primary school applying from Hertfordshire in harrow

Hi,
I need your valuable help please.
I am currently living in Hertfordshire ( boundary of harrow) and wish to apply one oversubscribed harrow primary school as my first preference. Kindly can you advise on following

  1. Does harrow calculate distance based on harrow borough first and then if places remain vacant then consider other borough , ( in oversubscribed school that wont happen). Or it will calculate distance irrespective or borough postcode.
  1. Harrow and Hertfordshire having different application and offer roll-out dates so if they work based purely on distance instead of borough-first how they coordinate among themselves? Like how harrow will know that Hertfordshire person has made a application for their primary school?

Kindly can you please advise. Your help is very much appreciated.

Thank you

You get double dip. Apply to both. Just remember to reject the one you don’t want.

And for the admission criteria - it will be on each school’s website - probably together with stats on last year furthest admitted distance and the like

This comment is wrong. You can apply to both but you apply for Harrow schools by listing them on Hertfordshire's application form. You cannot apply direct to Harrow. You will only get one offer.

No. That would be illegal. They are not allowed to prioritise people just because they live within the borough.

Harrow and Hertfordshire having different application and offer roll-out dates

No they don't. These dates are set nationally. The deadline for applications is 15th January and you will be able to find out which school you have been offered on 16th April.

Like how harrow will know that Hertfordshire person has made a application for their primary school

Shortly after the 15th January, Hertfordshire will inform Harrow of any applications that list a Harrow school as one of their preferences. Harrow will then inform Hertfordshire whether or not the child has qualified for a place at the school concerned.
