Waverley School or Reddam House

We are currently looking for a primary school in the Wokingham/Winnersh area and was wondering if anyone has experience with either or both of Waverley Prep School and Reddam House? We are looking for a school that has a Nursery as well (as we have one boy nursery age and one reception age) so we are currently considering these schools. Advice/recommendations will be appreciated!

No direct experience but I know a lot of people with children in the nursery at Waverley (DS is 3) and they all seem happy with it. I've heard Waverley isn't great for sen if that's relevant.

I don't have children at either school but seriously considered both and did all the school tours/open days. At Reddam house obviously the grounds are beautiful and the nursery and Reception looked amazing but we weren't sure about higher up the school (Also, and I know this shouldn't matter, but I really disliked the uniform!) I liked the feel of Waverley - very friendly, lovely pupils - but it did seem a bit small and facilities limited. Have you considered Holme Grange? Has a nursery that takes children from the term they turn 3.

Thank you @PreschoolYes. What do you mean by not good for sen? Senior School?

Thank you @furtivefeline. We mainly looked at them two since they are close to where we can live and the office and have nursery from pre-1 year old (my younger one is 2 this month) so the boys will go to the same school which makes it bit easier. But I will definitely look at Holme Grange - the website looks really nice.
PS: dont really fancy either of Waverley or Reddam's uniform! :-)

I see what you mean. Definitely easier to just have one drop off! We did a combination of Holme Grange and a very nearby local nursery until my youngest was old enough to join and that worked out OK but it's even better now they're in the same place and we have been very pleased with the choice of school.

(I think in PreschoolYes's comment SEN is referring to special educational needs)

Thank you for the help and mention of HG! I forgot to mention we probably will relocate in about 3-5 years again so I am not too worried about Senior School at the moment. I am sure all will work out okay in the end!

It is Reddam house that isn’t good with SEN, they have directed parents of SEN children towards Waverley when they feel they can’t meet their needs.

We are at OLPS in Crowthorne and there are lots of Wokingham parents, we love the school although it doesn’t have the same grounds as the other schools you have listed. The new head is fab (the old one was fab too Smile)

The Sen is awful and bullying of children receiving SEN support is awful. The headmaster has no idea what he is doing

BerkshireNewbie · 20/06/2020 18:53

Hi @Cougarmum47 which school’s SEN were you talking about?
