What would you do with a child who is already getting full marks on sats papers at this point in yr6? They are quickly getting bored in normal maths lessons but teacher is unsure what to do with them...

What I wouldn't do is teach them y7 maths as that will only shift the problem.

I'd look at widening things such as the lowest level of the UK maths challenge / kangaroo / Olympiad stuff. Or logic problems. Or coding.

Thanks. I already use parallelogram and maths challenge but I could look to send it into school instead of just at home. Just need to convince school!

… would it help if I sent DD in with some extension work / logic problems so if you are covering topics she has already mastered then she has something challenging to occupy herself with?

They acknowledge that she is already working at greater depth but are reluctant to just let her do something completely different. I guess I need to meet with her class teacher (again!) to see what he says. Thank you.
