Best private nursery/junior schools in Edinburgh

Hi everyone,
In September 2020 I am moving to Stockbridge in Edinburgh with dh and two dd aged 2 and 4. So I am now starting the process of picking them a private nursery/school (at the lower end of the fee scale - so c. £3k/term for P1)
Trouble is, all the private schools in Edinburgh look good.
Edinburgh Academy and ESMS are walking distance from my new house which is a big plus for those two, but other than that I cannot figure out any more deciding points.
Any tips on how I should decide? Of course, I will visit them all to get a feel, but I’d appreciate your inside knowledge. I have googled and googled but cannot really find any league tables or ofsted reports. Thank you!

St George’s school for girls is one to consider.

I wouldn’t send my girls to Edinburgh Academy personally.

I think you’ll find that all private schools and all schools in fact have some perceived ‘controversies’. Fettes, Watson’s and others have managed to persuade whoever has written their Wikipedia article to remove the controversy section and they have certainly got plenty that could go in there. Edinburgh Academy is doing incredibly well and there are big waiting lists. Exam results are also fantastic at the moment. Someone with a grudge has decided to put people off - possibly from a school which isn’t doing as well. I have two daughers there and am so proud of it - it makes me mad when people drag up stuff to undo all the amazing work going on.
