Is it easy to change schools in Year 5?

We would like to move our dd from her current school for various reasons. Is it complicated to transfer? Assuming there is a space for her somewhere.

You phone up the local authority, ask which schools have spaces, go look round any that do which you might be interested in, select one and tell the LA you would like a place there.

Pretty easy to do!

Really easy as long as there’s a space. You fill in and in-year transfer form from the local authority and they usually sort it all out within ten working days in most areas.

We moved DD3 at the start of the end of April of year 4, so she had a few months to settle, then year 5 and 6 at the new school. She's just started year 6 and it's great for her.

Some Local Authorities maintain a list of schools with spaces indicated in each year group and publish it on their web sites. Look under Admissions to Schools.
