In-year admission Tetherdown / Coldfall / any other local schools

I am about to move to the area with a child in Year 1. Been trying to get through to Harringey Council, but no luck yet.

Anyone had any experience with in-year admissions to the schools above? The closest to us (it is 0.1 mile away) is going to be Tetherdown. (Until we get a school space near our new house, we will bus down to my child's current primary - but will go on the waiting list for these schools.)

Anyone on the lists now? How are in-year admissions looking?

Of course, I will get through to Harringey eventually, but wondering if anyone has any inside info in the meantime! (Ie: hardly anyone moves so it's pretty unlikely, etc etc)

Or anyone been through the waiting lists for these schools and got in?

We filled an in year application for our daughter for reception to one of these schools and she got in. People do move in this area, so it all depends on when a place comes up. If you are so close to tetherdown, you have the highest chance of getting in it. So fill in the in-year application form as soon as you move. Have you visited the schools? Do you have a preference? Why aren't you able to get in touch with the council?

I visited Coldfall during the summer term when we were still looking for places to live, and they said pupils rarely leave so in-year admissions were uncommon... but I haven’t yet seen Tetherdown (couldn’t make timing work but know I need to this term and ASAP).

Do you mind sharing which one your daughter got into? And what you think of it?

Every time I have called Harringey, I’ve been on hold and had to quit to get back to something else before I get through, or I’ve called too late in the day. It’s all just me being pretty disorganised

(But also partially because I’m aware our sale could still fall through - we’ve only just had an offer accepted - I’ve probably been a bit disorganised about schools... and - because we haven’t moved - we can’t go on any lists.)

For in-year admission, it doesn’t matter how close/far you are. Harringey could as well offer you a school two miles away if there’s nothing closer. Obvs you can stay on the waiting list but I wouldn’t be surprised if there are a few children on the list already. Thetherdown is only two form entry and very very high achieving/desirable so you’ll need to be incredibly lucky to get a place.

Ask Harringey if you can apply as soon as you’ve exchanged, though, as that’s often possible.

She got into coldfall. We really like it and moved specifically for the school. I toured all the schools in the area, and could see how different schools will suit different kids better. So best to tour all schools.
You can send a mail to the council. They usually are pretty good with replying.

Could you apply to all the schools on-line using the form above? Apply to any school you’d be interested in. If you get one great, if you don’t you’re on there waiting list?
At least it gives you something to do until the council answer the phone.

You can apply online. But the application wouldn't be considered without the address proof documents. You can then mail them and ask. Although you should be able to get them on call as well. The waiting can be long but you can also request for call back. And they do call back.
Also, in the form you will need to write your schools in the order of priority. So might make sense to find out more about the schools first.
