Expectations of primary school

Hi everyone can you tell me what realistic expectations you have of a primary school versus unrealistic expectations. I’m just curious what is realistic to expect from a state run primary school compared to if they were privately educated.

I think one of the biggest problems is that people forget that it's a school and children have parents that are responsible for teaching their children life skills.

One parent in my DC’s class at the private school moaned to me once about the teacher and TA in the Reception class - because they wouldn’t take her DS to the toilets so he could practice sitting on the toilets at school. I just didn’t know what to say to that.
