Dd2 starts tomorrow & although she's excited I'm nervous for her. It's a fab school, both teacher and SENCO seem great but even though she's nearly 5 I'm worried about her socially. She's coming from private nursery rather than school nursery with only 1 child.
Educationally she's fine - already reading, great fine motor skills, numerate, she's great at playing with everything but not amazing at playing with other children.

I didn't have this with dd1 at all she was more than ready but dd2 is less ready, more clingy & a complete mummy's girl.

Tell me all your happy stories please...

My DD is mid way through week 2 now. She's summer born so not long turned four so she's not as far on academically but also has form for being clingy etc. She's never been keen on being dropped off at nursery even though she's been going for over 3 years!

You know she's done brilliantly! She's made some little friends, really enjoying it, dropping off perfectly and happy girl on pick up.

It's interesting because some of the more confident kids from nursery have been more emotional than the quieter ones.

Try not to worry and just go with the flow. She might surprise you! x

Thank you. Sounds likes she's doing brilliantly. Hopefully I'll be saying the same in a couple of weeks.

My DS started today. He is clingy so I knew there would be tears and unfortunately I had tears on pick up too. Bless him it's so overwhelming, that being said he was fine after a snack and seemed happy this evening and chatted a little about his day.

Well she was very quiet and withdrawn when we entered the classroom. Got gradually clingier after being super excited first thing but came out this pm and said she loved her class & she'd played with x & y. Visibly exhausted though despite 3 yrs of f-t private nursery.
Fingers crossed for drop off in the morning
