Confused by application - reception

Hello!

My son should be starting reception next September, so application have opened online to be done through our local authority.

However, when I've gone on to click to apply it comes up with this message

"There are no available admission groups for online applications for your child."

His date of birth and all information is correct.

Does anyone know what the above message means? It won't let me go forward.

Reception applications don't open until November here. It's only in year applications at the moment.

Probably not open. I don't think it opens until later around here.

According to the website applications open on 12 September.

It means applications for your child’s year group aren’t open yet.

Just to be sure - you do realise that there is no rush? Primary applications are not first come, first served and so if you don’t send the application until just before the January 15th deadline it will not affect the school you are allocated. Many people prefer to actually look around any schools which they may reasonably have a chance of being admitted to and so it would be unusual to want to apply on September the 1st before open days have taken place.

Have they opened the system for next year yet? It is early as deadline is not until January.

Liverpool doesn’t open till September 15th usually and closes mid January. I think you’re just a bit early. I worked in a Liverpool primary office for years and it was always 2 weeks after we started back. Just to give us time to sort of this years intake.

In our area it’s not open until 1 November so seems quite late compared to some.

I get this message, I am already signed up and applied for my oldest last year (he starts in September). I am now not touching the admissions website until after the opening of the new round!
