Songbirds reading books.

A few years ago I bought a comptete set of Julia Donaldson's Songbirds. The levels were: Lilac stage 1, Pink stage 1+, Red stage 2, Yellow stage 3, blue stage 4. Green stage 5, and orange stage 6.( I didn't buy individual books, but collections of 6 (or 12 stories) in one volume.

But looking at the Oxford website today, there now seems to be only 4 stages (with blue, yellow, red and green colours) and some of the books that previously had 6 stories in them now have 7.

I'm planning to use my old books with a reception child in the family. Does anyone know (maybe a teacher) if the newer versions have extra stories added, or if it's just the same 60 stories from before arranged slightly differently? . Thanks

https://global.oup.com/education/product/9780198436508/?region=uk I assume this is the pack you bought originally ... if so there aren't any additional books.

Oh yes, looks like they've squished the same stories into fewer levels. Maybe to match better with other schemes? We had the 6 levels X 6 books set from the book people, lovely series.

No they haven't thirdfiddle those books have six pink band books in one book, six red band books in one book, six yellow band books in one book etc same number of levels ...I think the OP was looking at the top pack (Y1) which only contains yellow, blue, green orange bands while the bottom pack contains all six bands (pink, red, yellow, blue, green, orange)

Clare and the Fair is listed in their stage 4 pack - sure it was stage 6 in the set we had, they have them in kids' school too.?

In fact it's even stage 6 on their own linked page so I wasn't imagining things.

In case not clear, I was referring to the link in my first post listing the big books of several stories, as OP was talking about those. Realised on rereading that mrs image is individual books so maybe those are still the same.

Your first link is to the read at home books

OP was talking about the lots of stories in one volume sets - assume that's those ones? All the same stories anyway, they've just lined them up differently.

"All the same stories anyway, they've just lined them up differently."
Thank you, thirdfiddle. Pleased I have all the books and there aren't any additional ones

Just for anyone wondering:
This is the page I was looking at. (only 4 levels)
www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book/read-with-oxford/rwo-songbirds-by-julia-donaldson/

And these are the ones I have (six levels)

I think there are fewer stories in the new sets.

If you’ve got all 60, then you’ve got the complete songbirds collection. It’s just that ORT seem to have done something extremely odd with their read at home books recently. Stages 1+ to 6/7 have been condensed into 4 levels. And then there are two more levels that cover ORT levels 8-12.
