We are moving to Bearsted in October. My little boy is in Year 1 and I'd love to hear what people think about local preps? Any recommendations? Any to steer clear of?

madginford primary is rated good by ofsted. My friend's dc go there and seem very happy.

We are hoping to stay in independent education. it works well with our family life.

oh ok, in that case i would have a look at brunswick house

MarchingFrogs · 11/08/2019 01:08

That one looks like a state primary as well?

Floralnomad · 11/08/2019 01:33

It really depends on whether you plan to be fully independent or plan to take the 11+ with the aim of a Grammar for secondary . For non 11+ it’s really Sutton Valence or Kings Rochester being the most accessible . Bearsted to Tonbridge / Tunbridge Wells is a horrible commute . If you plan to do the 11+ Shernold or St Andrews Rochester have really good reputations although whether you would be able to actually get a place might be an issue .

gosh i'm really sorry, very sleep deprived mum over here! ignore brunswick house as i think it is state x

SadOtter · 13/08/2019 00:24

Not Shernold. I will PM you because it is too outing to explain here but please do not send your child to Shernold. Sutton Valence is probably your best bet.

Thanks so much for your help. I will book a few visits in and see what happens!

Hi @Pinklou82, where did you decide in the end? Shernold or Sutton V? Any feedback ?
