TT rock stars

My children came home with log ons for TT rock stars towards the end of term. One of them really isn't bothered aside from personalising the avatar. The other is really into it, and has been racing through the levels, asking to play most days. She has started to slow down a bit as she is now onto the questions she doesn't know so well. Does anyone know how many levels there are? I expect 144 but am open to correction!
I realise teachers can 'set' work, but they haven't done yet, just given the kids a demo session at school.

Can't help with the number of levels sorry but my DS has been the same, he loves it and keeps trying to beat his scores Smile

It's not levels as it goes to 12x12 but for each times tables there are something like 40 variations of questions. It can be quite overwhelming & TT Rockstars recommend starting with one times table eg 3 x, depending on age of child. The following week you might do 6 x then the week after 3x and 6x etc. Not setting them is not a good idea unless the child is totally secure already.
It takes about 14 weeks to build up to 12x12 so having them all in one go is too much.

Thanks both

It is levels, because it is called 'autolevel 1' - my other kid is on 'autolevel 7' and the one who likes to get ahead in school is on 'autolevel 110'.
A visiting child from another school had a go at it on our computer, they seemed to have times tables chosen for them by their school. Presumably I can't do that, so we have to stick to auto levels?
She may well get bored once we get to the hard ones, but they only seem to introduce 4 new calcs per level, so it doesn't take long to figure them out. Just wondered if we were nearing the end, it seems not!

She isn't totally secure already except for 2x, 5x, 10x, she's ok at 3x,4x and 8x. Hasn't done 6x 7x or 9x, learned 11x from TT rock stars. She knows 12x12 so the other 12xs should come as she learns the other sets.

Ah maybe there is a setting that adapts the questions according to how the child is doing. I've not heard of auto levels. I'm going to have a look at that. My DD is pretty good with her tables but gets very panicky over the timer so we stick with Squeebles rather than Rock Stars.

Have a look at YouTube for videos which explain how it works.

It's not levels, but there are different 'arenas' and the soundcheck is to practice for Y4 tests with 6 seconds for 25 questions.

We paid for an annual subscription and then a term later school signed up and maths homework was replaced by 20 minutes on rockstars every week. My child had all timetables set. Not once did the teacher set specific tables based on what she was learning, so I'm glad we had our subscription so I could set the tables needed. You can also track progress by seeing speed over time which is good to see.

Thank you
Kicking myself for not thinking of you tube as the answer to all life's minor problems! Shall have a look.

Just wanted to say our school uses this Big Time! The kids love it and are very competitive with it and even the staff try to get on the leader board!!! Kids love to beat the teacher plus it has had a fantastic impact on tables learning in school!

Can't help with advice - I ended up having to explain to the school in Year 3 that DS1 wouldn't be doing maths homework if it was Times Table Rock Stars! He found it unbearably overstimulating, and it produced epic meltdowns (even by his standards!). It was officially banned at my house! Grin
