Fun educational app for Year 3/4

My 8 yo has had a tricky year at school with lots of staff change and therefore hasn't progressed as much as hoped in English or maths. His sibling uses a fun app recommended by school called Teach Your Monster to read and I'm after something similarly fun but more advanced. Any teachers out there able to recommend something suitable please to keep him going over the summer? Something fun which he can do for a short period every day on the iPad ideally. Maths is probably the priority over English but interested in both.

Squeebles. There are several different apps - times tables, maths, spelling etc. You earn turns at playing a game for answering correctly and the more you play the more squeebles(friendly monster type thing) you collect.

For maths, Hit the Button is great for developing fluency and is suitable for all ages. The app costs £2.99 but the website is free.

Doodlemaths teaches the National Curriculum in both English and Maths. I haven’t tried the English one, but I think the Maths one is well designed. It aims to make the questions hard enough so they consistently get about 90% right, which is encouraging, and the explanations are very clear and easy to follow. I’d say it would be better for filling knowledge gaps / poor teaching than Squeebles, but Squeebles is more fun and doesn’t have the initial hurdle of the placing test (Doodlemaths keeps asking questions until the child gets a certain number wrong, and it’s a bit dull).

Oh yes, we used to have Doodlemaths. I'll look into Squeebles though, fun is going to be key I think. Thanks for all suggestions.
