Moved from Greater Depth to Expected with no explanation

DD has just finished Y4. In years 2 & 3 she was assessed in maths as Greater Depth but this year is now Expected. She really enjoys maths and said she's been on 3 star activities in lessons (1 star easiest up to 3 star hardest).

I completed the report feedback form to say how lovely her report was, but concerned that progress has not maintained in maths. I've not had any response. Should I have had an explanation? Or at this age does progress ebb and flow?

On your report feedback form did you ask for a response, or did you merely mention it?

I would have hoped that the school would have read your comment and acted on it by contacting you for a chat, but it's possible it wasn't high priority right at the end of term if you expressed it softly and not as a direct request.

Assuming school has already broken up for the summer, in September I'd ask to have a word with the new teacher to ask if he/she can check back with last year's teacher and let you know the outcome.

I can see why you'd want to know - I would too - but I'd just assume it got lost in the end of term bustle, and I'd revisit it in September.

Ah that may be it. It was a comment rather than a question. Yes, I'll talk to her new teacher in September about expected levels and if she's on track with progress.

Thank you.
