First day at school gift

Hi.
Can anyone help? I want to get a present for a friend's child to celebrate them starting school (reception) when mine were small I was given personalized pencils which were lovely but banned from school. Can anyone suggest something that is lovely and usable?

Are they allowed a personalised pencil case?

How about a personalised water bottle or go to a pottery painting place in the next few weeks so they can decorate their own plate to have breakfast on?

I was going to say water bottle. They’re always allowed to have those and if it’s personalised, there’s less chance of it going missing!

Some funky name stickers?

If a girl, hair accessories in the uniform-appropriate colour?

Our lovely friends got our child popcorn and a few treats/ personalised slickers and twistable crayons.

A key ring that can go onto her school bookbag to distinguish it from the other 29 in the class.

A personalised PE bag?

I bought friends children some hair clips in the school colours and Matalan do socks with bows in school colours. It was used each time, so it was actually useful!
