Hi! wondered if anyone can give me their views of Eaton House Belgravia (EHB). My son was given an offer for Y1 entry. He is a bright, lively boy. He is strong in math. But kids interest change all the time no one can predict what he'll be into the next!
There are very little recent feedbacks on EHB, we wanted to know if indeed 1/2 of the boys go to top london day schools such as westminster, st paul's. And how much of that is down to school/parents efforts. I heard heavy tutoring is rampant which concerns me. I also heard that only a quarter boys go to schools such as westminster/st paul's and the rest go to other not so extraordinary schools. do you know the ratio? Does anyone has experience with teachers? are they caring and nurturing? do kids receive plenty of individual attentions? Their website says the staff to pupil ratio is 1:8 but their classes can be as big as 15-18?
we were given a tight deadline to decide so any feedback will be welcomed!

OP - boys preps in central London need to get boys ready for 7/8+, which means that they take 4yo babies and in 3 years they need to be able to reliably do work other kids get to do when they are a lot older. So - these schools can’t really be very nurturing.
And of course - people do tend to do a lot of extra work at home. Just how the game is played. These kids are small and have to perform at a high level, so a lot of practice and repetition, unfortunately, is required.
As to the results - actual annual percentages are not that relevant. 20/30/40% of kids going to x,y,z schools won’t make your individual child get in or not.
EHB, together with Wetherby are the top preps in this area, and every year they send a good number of boys to WU and St.Pauls. If these are the schools you are aiming to at 7/8+ then a prep like EHB is a good place to be.
As to the ratio - it just means they have a teacher and an assistant in a class.

Hi Selia,

Is your son at EHB now?

If so, do you mind to share your view about the school please? We have an offer for next year entry and trying to decide.

Thank you
