Primary schools in Reigate - applying late for reception 2019

Hello wise mums, we’re moving to Reigate in the next couple of months which is a v last min move. We’re excited as it’s a lovely place to live, but my daughter starts reception in September so we’ll be applying late for a place for her. I’m concerned we won’t get a place at any of the local schools. Does anyone have any advice in applying late and do you think we have ANY chance getting into Reigate parish, Holmesdale etc? We’re moving to near priory park so should be in the catchment for R parish at least. Any advice gratefully received. As could just about afford private for a bit if needs be, any guidance on the private schools if we can’t get a place for her? Thank you

contact the schools and explain the situation, and ask how long their waiting list is/Do they have any spaces currently available for your daughter. RE private schools, have a look at micklefield school. all the best x

You are more likely to get Dovers Green or Sandcross. There is a new one (Hatchlands?) between Redhill and Reigate, 2019 being its second intake. Most of the local primaries are fine but traditionally there have been issues with children being allocated further afield such as Salfords Primary.

You need to contact the admissions department and get a list of vacancies, though you cannot register until you move. They have to find you a place and provide transport if it's over 2 miles but you won't get to pick the local school (unless it's good space) however once you move you could be places high on the wait list if it's your local school

Hi, I think Reigate Parish is unlikely but there is a small chance you may get Holmesdale.
The pressure on reception places is nowhere near as crazy as it was a few years ago and now Holmesdale is a 4 class entry too.
I know a family that applied late Sept 2018 (moved to Reigate from abroad over the summer) and their DC was given a place at Holmesdale even though they live much nearer to Sandcross.
They are very happy with the school but the school run has been a real headache for them.

Hi lovely mums,
This is an old thread but I am moving to Reigate on Sandcross lane and would love if any of you could give me some information about the area in terms of safety, getting a place in Sandcross primary - is it a good school? What kid activities are nearby? Many thanks
