Moving Schools

Due to our childminder stopping wraparound provision we are having to move schools as the current school offers no after school care. Our daughter is reception and our son is pre school nursery and they will move in September.

I feel sad as we like the current school but we need a school that provides wraparound provision and I know that longer term this school meets our family requirements, and it is still an excellent school. I worry as my daughter is going from a class of 13 to a class of 27 and she has been at this school since her pre school nursery years. I also feel a bit selfish as it's because of my desire (need as well) to work that means we have to move as I can't get back to school for pick up time.

There is so much I'm looking forward to with the new school, a culture of working parents, kids with parents that work and the fact that my kids stay in the same provision all day but it feels like a big move and feels a bit scary even to me as the parent!

We're engaging with the new school to arrange settling in days and for them to attend the 'move up' days and we'll tell the children after half term that it's happening.

I don't know if I have a question as such I just needed to say I'm finding it hard even though I know other children change schools and it works out fine, it just seems like a big thing to do to them!

Any advice or tips on how to tell them or how to stop myself crying as I know I need to be very matter of fact and positive about it are very welcome!

Thanks
