Hi. Wondering if anyone has any advice/insight on primary schools in/around Berkhamsted. We are about to move from SW London with a 2 year old who will be starting school Sep 2020. We have reviewed all the offsted reports and stats (although a lot quite out of date now) but know there is more to schools than just the reports... wondering if mums have a more personal view or any recommendations! All thoughts/comments really appreciated!

All the schools in Berkhamsted are good or outstanding. One Catholic, two Church of England, four non religious so there is an element of choice but distance from school is important. Greenway and Westfield are probably the most popular non faith.

I have friends at all schools and they all say such positive things.

If you are planning on staying in the town then be warned that the catchment for Ashlyns (secondary) shrunk dramatically this year with children in Northchurch and Potten End not getting in (unheard of in previous years). Only one or two got a place at Chesham Grammar either which caused a few pained parents as in previous years there have never been any problems.

Choose the location of your house very wisely.

That's really helpful, we're looking for quite central so hopefully be ok for Ashlyns too. Thanks!

Hi,
We are also looking to move from SW London to Berko. Did you end up making the move in the end ? Any insight you could share on the primary schools. A place we are looking at is 0.4 from Westfield Primary School... I wonder if thats too far!!
Thanks

@DK10101 - Here you go. A link to a rather chunky document which has all the admissions distances and other statistics for Hertfordshire primary schools. Westfield is page 361 and this year you would have got a place based on those distances.

Remember though it’s only an indication and number of siblings can screw things up.

All the primary schools in Berko have grest reputations so no need to be overly concerned. And welcome to Berko it’s a lovely place to live!
