OK, so we've discussed teacher presents but what about school buddies?

DD has had two playground buddies this year who have really helped her with her confidence, etc. She talks about them all the time and I thought it would be a nice gesture to give them both a little gift to say thank you now that they are moving on to secondary school. Trouble is I have no idea what 11 year old boys like. I don't want to spend a fortune but want to get them something that they will appreciate. I am also feeling slightly guilty as they both gave dd chocolates for Christmas and we got them nothing . TIA

what a great idea... the buddy thing i mean... (mine are all titchy. i know nothing. yet.)

dunno what to get them... sweets??

Yes, sorry should have said, she's in Reception and they are paired up with the older ones at the beginning of the school year. I have to say these boys have taken their role much more seriously than ds1's buddy did last year. Like the idea of the voucher.

they sound like lovely boys, well done you for rewarding such great behaviour.

Thanks . Will do card I think because we were going to do some for teachers as well. Now what sort of vouchers? Would get them iTunes or similar if I knew they could definitely use them but I don't. Waterstones? Not sure how bookish they are though (my ds1 is nearly 7 and would love these however). Anyone got any inspiration for me?

I think at this age maybe something like a cool branded wallet (the surfy brands that they like) would be appreciated and perhaps make them feel sophisticated

bagpuss · 12/07/2007 09:54

Ooh, yes, one of dd's buddies is a very cool sort, so maybe!

er... if hes 'cool', then sneak a peak at whatever brands he is sporting next time you clap eyes on him and get something of that brand (ie quiksilver or puma or whatever)
you (or i or any other oldie) will be bound to get 'cool' in the eyes of the yoof of today wrong if we attempt to achieve it using our own judgment [out of touch, like it or not]

peek

apols.
