DS1 (6 3/4yrs - in YR1) came home from school yesterday with a letter from the "PE Director" ( more like the teacher which does most of the PE lessons LOL) which informed me that 30 children (out of a school for 180) had been picked to go to an "Activity Fun Day" at another school on Friday - and DS1 was one of them. Now DS1 has never been of the athletic type and certainly never really been 'into' sports and activity stuff BUT I've discovered that the 30 children that have been picked have been picked because of their "performance" and ability in PE lessons.....meaning that DS1 has been doing really well.
When I told him what the letter said you'd think I'd told him he was going to be tortured......."Do I HAVE to go mum" he said, and as I filled in the permission slip this morning a look of horror crossed his face (bit like Horrid Henry in the Sports Day and Shark in the Pool episodes if you ever watch it ). He then asked if xxx was going (his best friend) and I told him I didn't know but perhaps he would (I had a suspicion the said best friend would be going as he's very "sporty").
Got to school and his best friend happened to arrive at the same time as us - sure enough clutching his permission slip with a HUGE grin on his face wanting to tell the world he'd been picked to go.....only then did DS1 start to smile.
Aghhhh I thought he'd be really chuffed that he'd been picked to go but apparently not!
