ability grouping in primary schools

many studies have showed ability grouping in primary schools can be harmful and children cannot reach their full potential. It also created a stigma inside classrooms and affects children's mental health and self-esteem. A friend of mine has started a petition to abolish ability grouping in primary schools across the UK. Would you support this petition?

I agree with this OP. When I was in school I was in the ‘bottom maths set’ and was regularly teased by other pupils in ‘higher sets’. Turned out the teachers hierarchy system was bullshit and I got an A*. It probably stunted a lot of kids as you would only work towards say a C or a B in the lower sets. We were basically told high marks weren’t achievable by lower sets. Disgusting schooling when you think about it really! No wonder most of us self harmed and struggled with MH. I hope it is at least a bit better now

How can we support our children to have a nurturing, creative and innovative education? What practices do we need to improve our public education system. Should the government invest more in teacher training, new curriculum, design of classrooms. It might be a long way. Do you agree our primary schools' system need a revamp? Our teachers deserve a better pay and proper training? Adopt more technology inside classrooms to keep up with digital advancement in education?

I think it's a pity they removed levels as being 5yrs behind for a subject is more useful info than working towards...
I find all the secrecy unhelpful as if you can see how others are doing you can help more at home.
It makes no real sense to have children years behind even in the same classroom. It will be stressful to them
