So...recently moved and not sure what happens with schools now (reception 2019). I'm looking at some small independents. Anyone know what st martins in mill hill is like? Any other suggestions for schools that would still have a place available to start in September?

Dreadful. People tend to send their children there for that very reason... ither good state or private schools are full / they have no other offers at the time.

It seems good for those going for a 5+ entry elsewhere. The nursery was decent. I have nothing positive to say about the teaching and management of the school beyond that point. There is the odd decent teacher, starkly out of place in what is an environment of favouritism, inadequate facilities and diabolical ways of crushing children's spirits.
As with all schools, what may work well for one child, may not for another. However, there are hoards of people who have experienced poor care for their children on every level: educationally, physically and emotionally. They have left in droves. Need I say more.

I have three boys that go to this school and they have been for three years. I could not recommend this school enough!
3 years ago there was a big change in management and the school has been nothing short of exceptional for me.
My eldest just sat his 11 plus and passed every single one of them with flying colours. My middle child has dyslexia and needs more support and the school, within 2 weeks of him being there, was able to tell me more about his educational needs than any teacher previously. It doesn't have massive grounds but what the teachers provided in terms of support and nurturing, outways that massively!
I only came on this site because a friend of mine said she had seen negative comments about the school when researching for herself. After reading all the threads, I know for a fact that some of the comments being left are by parents who have been asked to leave in the past. I am there now and happy to talk to anyone who has questions and actually give them honest truth anytime.
