4+ waitlists for 2019 entry

Hi All - we have been waitlisted at our top two choices for our daughter for 4+ entry in September (Falkner, Glendower). Anyone going through the same? Anyone has any news whether the waitlists are moving?

Our fall back options are either Hill House International or Chepstow House - any suggestions which between the two to choose?

Thank you so much in advance for your help?

I've heard its best to call politely (!) from time to time for updates and then see what happens when deadline approaches in case they go to the WL. We have firm offers at Falkner and Glendower but can't decide......help please?

@candycrush64 - amazing news; both are great school and you cannot go wrong with anyone of them.

Good news for us as well, as this means one spot will become available at one of the two schools.

Hello,

We have a place for our daughter at Glendower and are trying to figure out whether or not to take it. Much more stressful a process than I'd have thought, truthfully.

@mana2018 As far as what's happening with the waitlist, it should be moving - the Head sent an email yesterday asking those not inclined to take the places we'd been allocated to please release them as soon as possible so that families on the waitlist could be accommodated.

Have to say: it was the most polite, direct and kind message I've seen from a head so far; few of the others seem to even acknowledge the serious strain this rather discombobulated process puts on the families that are part of it.

@candycrush64: what are you thinking re: the call between Glendower and Faulkner? Would love to hear your views.

@bombcyclone DH and I drew up pros and cons list and are definitely coming down in favour of Glendower. Smaller class sizes, good results, and not run for profit (important to us). Were very impressed by their meeting last week for those with offers. Helped put things into perspective. Fingers crossed - I think we've decided! Smile

Hello @candycrush64 : I think we're coming down that way as well - but hadn't considered the for vs nonprofit angle (beyond a philosophical preference for the latter, I suppose). Could you explain a bit why you feel it makes a material difference in your daughter's education?

We were impressed by the classroom visit last week; less so the talk (though that's likely because we had to leave early). What struck you most?

@candycrush64 : and congratulations on having made a decision. Must feel amazing.

Knowing both schools well they are of course both fantastic. FH has the edge on results and on supportive/individual care ethos from what I hear. Glendower a bit more parent activity/fundraising galas/events, and stronger drama as a subject. By the way they get lots of individual support at FH so class sizes not really an issue.

Indeed, Falkner House's results are very impressive. Especially this year - half of the class joining St Paul's
