My little boy is 4 will be 5 on October due to start school in August. Nursery feel that he is not emotionally ready to start school but said he is academically ready. It's my call but not sure what to do!

Can you be more specific ?
There are 8 months until then, are there things you might be able to help him with beg=fore he starts ?

You presumably have applied for a place for September. When you have it confirmed meet the school and discuss whether he could start later. There are many months yet until September and he could settle well. Latest he should be in education is next January, so you cannot defer anyway.

If he's starting school in August, does that mean you're in Scotland?

If so, don't you have the option to defer a year?

I think the real question is do you think he will be ready? If you agree that he isn't yet ready emotionally, look at whether there is anything that you and the nursery can work on between now and August to prepare him. If you think that the situation will not change, I'd look at your options for deferring.
