Hi all
If your daughtee got into both schools excluding location which one would you choose?

Happy to leave it, although to be fair, it is you who are continuing it by insisting you are telling it like it is when in fact you are telling it like it isn't.

I enjoy some arguments, others not so much. There are plenty of argumentative educational threads about though, if you are that way inclined, including regular ones about grammar/state/private that can get quite heated!

Glaciferous · 05/06/2019 23:17

And, after some thought, I suggest you also withdraw your comments on other threads that have been comprehensively debunked and denied by parents at the schools you seem to have such a problem with, who know a lot more about them than you do. Happy to pop over to the other threads and do a similar list to the one I posted above about the lies you've told if needed.

I just noticed that Wayland posted ad nauseum all over this site with presumptive negative comments about SPS and SPGS.

This does look very much like a grudge, possibly owing to a massive investment to prepare for but getting a bursary place at St. Pauls. This could explain the presumption that bursary candidates are smart and the rest are 'thick' or 'no so smart'. This is of course utter rubbish as in London they are tons of people in the middle who do not qualify for bursaries (or choose not to cheat) and yet with kids who both very smart and hard working.

I am sure this would be proven in a hypothetical scenario of Labour starting its assault on private education and finding that people who currently use grammar schools get overrun by 'thick' kids from top private schools.

I've tried to reach you with a personal message, but you haven't responded.

Our recent discussions have broken down into ramblings and altercations, and I'm rather embarrassed about it, as I'm sure you are.

Admittedly, many of my views and assumptions on various topics are indeed likely out-of-date or inaccurate, somewhat biased, and based largely on anedotes and hear-say. But then honestly, so else is virtually everyone's opinions on this forum.

If I could delete every post, and you could delete all of yours, I would gladly do so. However, It would just leave a lot of "post deleted at request of poster" posts, if the moderators would even delete them. It would not remove all traces of our conversations.

What do you think we should do? Do you think we should write to the moderators?

Regards,

Wayland

Glaciferous · 06/06/2019 23:54

Hello Wayland. I haven't responded because I have been extremely busy today. Personally I think you should remove the posts that contain obvious untruths but that is up to you. I won't be removing my posts because I can't see where I have said anything at all that isn't true. However I obviously can't make you do anything you don't want to so perhaps examine your own conscience and decide which, if any, of the posts are a) truthful and b)helpful.

Glaciferous · 06/06/2019 23:55

And I'm not in the least embarrassed, though I can see why you are!

Xiaoxiong · 07/06/2019 06:58

er...apart from the OP who is honestly asking for information, this thread is full of former students and current parents of the schools in question. The only one holding forth on the basis of hearsay and generalisations is you.

I agree with Glaciferous - I'd report your posts to MN and ask for them to be deleted, and the ones over on the SPS thread as well.

Not just on this site. He or she left the same content-free assertions on the elevenplusexams site. Though the mods seem to have removed that post now.

Please do not make allegations you cannot prove.

Hello,

I will contact the moderators to ask them to delete all the posts I made on those threads I mentioned earlier.

However, this is on condition that you also contact them to ask them to delete the posts in which you attempted to debunk me. You did indeed make yourself look foolish at times.

Just to again summarise, the central point of my arguments was that ever rising fees in the face of stagnant incomes will have priced out the majority of families who could once afford them, and that this will have led to a decline in the pool of talent from which these schools could select, thus broadening the range of abilites of their intake.

I don't believe, for the most part, that my arguments were false or that my suggestions were untrue. However, I have come to the conclusion that it was unneccessary to make them as our discussions basically descended into wrangling and altercations and nothing contructive was achieved. Some also wrongly suggested that I was targetting my criticisms at particular schools and this is false.

Regards,

Wayland

Does anyone know if there's an emoji with black pots and kettles?

@Wayland - You assert that I cannot prove my allegations without giving me a chance to provide evidence. That's quite rude. That's also stupid. The post has since been removed but have you never heard of screenshots?

Before I call you a liar, I'll give you a chance to prove me right.

Did you post such a message on the elevenplusexams website on Sunday 02-Jun-19 at 18:16?

Be so kind as to give a yes or no reply to this very simple question.

Wayland · 07/06/2019 19:44

expat96

Look I've already apologized and offered to remove my posts from this site.

It's true that I also had a similar argument about private school fees on elevenplusexams recently. I removed my posts as I'd had enough of going over the same points again and again.

What are you trying to achieve? Why are you trying to make things harder than they have to be?

Wayland · 07/06/2019 20:08

expat96

Did you post such a message on the elevenplusexams website on Sunday 02-Jun-19 at 18:16?

To answer your question, yes, I did make some posts around this time on elevenplusexams, during a debate on private schools. But I've since deleted them as I'd given up arguing.

expat96 · 07/06/2019 20:23

What are you trying to achieve?

You went out of your way to impugn my credibility, to try to discredit my statement when you knew full well that it was correct. I want everyone else to know that it was accurate and I'd like them to know how you go about making your "arguments".

It may be your preferred style to make unsupported assertions; don't tar the rest of us with your brush.

Wayland · 07/06/2019 20:42

expat96

Let me apologize, I was acting defensively in the heat of the moment. I had no intention of undermining your credibility.

Rockylady · 07/06/2019 21:50

@Wayland - although I suspect you know this already. It is not about @expat96 's credibility, it is about your credibility.

Glaciferous · 07/06/2019 21:53

However, this is on condition that you also contact them to ask them to delete the posts in which you attempted to debunk me. You did indeed make yourself look foolish at times.

Don't be ridiculous. Of course I'm not going to do that. You may well see it as 'attempting' to debunk you but I'm afraid that I see it as putting a much-needed dose of reality into the thread. I also don't care whether or not you think me foolish as it is abundantly clear both to me and other posters on these threads who appears to be quite astonishingly foolish (clue - it isn't me).

Glaciferous · 08/06/2019 00:54

PS Not sure why you are specifically targeting me. Nobody else agrees with you either. Are you going to ask the entire thread to delete their posts? Could be fun. Why not give it a go? Or alternatively just stop telling lies and start posting a bit more moderately and based on your own actual experience.

MissRB · 07/06/2022 00:39

So what did OP finally decide on NLCS or SPGS? Either ways both are brilliant schools. Hope DD is well settled and enjoying her time in school.
