Has anyone any ideas please? Did anything work particularly well at your school?

rent out tables to other people - Virgie Vie, jewellery makers cardmakers etc. Charge £5 or 10% of their takings, whichever greater. YOu onlyhave to supply a table, and you get more stalls.

make school calendar/ teatowel (with self portraits of all the children) and sell. lots of comp[anies do teatowels, we got local printers to do calendars.

raffle

Adult tombola (donations by parents - chocs, perfume, wine etc).

Decorated jar tombola (made by children and filled with sweets).

No outlay - hundreds of £££££ profit!!

Teddy tombola - every one donates their old teddies which are then washed and won by someone else.(I personally HATE this stall - always end up having to house another half dozen cuddly toys) This is popular as depending on how many you get it can be a prize every time. Also NO outlay.

Some small games like pin the red nose on Rudolf.

At our school each class makes christmas decs and you pay 50p on the night to take your child's one home.

A couple of suggestions that have worked well at our school.

  1. Depending on the age of the children, homemade crackers go down well. Do a 'Blue Peter' demo in assembly showing how to make them, then sell them for 50p at the fair. We made over £100 one year!
  2. Sell a link for a paper chain (ask the children to decorate and write name on the inside) then use to decorate hall etc. On the day, ask the Head to cut the chain and the child whose link it was wins a prize. Hope these help xx
