Bute House 7+ Entrance 2019

Hi ladies, is anyone doing 7+ Bute entrance test in January? My daughter will be doing this and I was just wandering if you have any tips how to prepare her for the day? Is there anything particular we should do over these holidays?

Hi, DD came back very happy and said she would like to go back there very much. She found maths, not very hard, not very easy, story writing easy, games interesting. She said they had done no NVR. How about your DD? Do you know when we should hear back, if at all?

I would say my DD felt the same. She was taken from the maths test to do a 1:1 comprehension. My DD read the passage and questions, however, the teacher took notes of the answers. She was asked to check her papers. They did a lot of group activities. She came out positive. It seems that the next week we will get an answer. Did you sit any other schools?

No, we are happy at our current school and would change it for nothing but the Bute as I have always kept an eye on it. Glad your DD liked the day. Good luck to both of them. Please post or PM if you here from them. I will post/PM too.

My DD sat too. It sounded like a very well-thought out day. I adore Bute but realise the chances of a place are so low. She said it was more talking and less tests than the other schools she sat and she really enjoyed it. She said they did reading with a teacher, writing a story, maths test, maths with a teacher and a chatting exercise (whatever that is!). I don't know if she remembered right though, she was very tired by the end of it all!
She is at a pre-prep so has to move. She can be quite quiet so I am a bit worried but trust if it is the right place for her, she'll get a place.

If your DD is in a Pre prep she should go through. Did you receive a response?

I was wondering whether you would be willing to share what sort of academic level we are talking about as sufficient/desired to have a chance to get an offer from Bute House?
Reading - free reader or a really serious reader as in Harry Potter?
Maths? Creative writing?
Do they look at sports? music?
Any information would be much appreciated.
