Different reading scheme levels?

Hi, DSD is really behind on her reading so we're trying to find more books to help. I'm struggling to figure out the different levels though.

She's on Ladybird read it yourself books level 2. Does anyone know what that equates to in the Oxford reading tree books?

How old is DSD?
My DD is six and not overly keen on reading. My sister gave me a lovely set of Oxford Reading Tree books from The Book People. They are meant to be read alongside the main reading scheme. They have activities etc in them. DD loves them but really doesn't like her reading scheme at school.
The Book People still stock them.
There is also a reading scheme called Songbird that is related to the ORT but to be used alongside. It is more phonic based which might help your DSD.

She's almost 7 but is in no way reading at an almost 7 year olds level. I need to figure out what the equivalent levels are though really to know which ones to get. The book people have 1-3 in a set and 4-6. I would assume she'd be 4-6 now.

I'd avoid the Ladybird books if she's struggling

If she can read those ladybird ones I think she is probably beyond level 4-6 ORT - maybe around level 6. Do you have a library near by - they have lots of different sets of books as they are expensive to buy. I don't think she sounds really behind for a 6 year old - there is a big variation in dd year 2 class.

It really depends on her difficulty. I'd probably start with the Alba series from Phonic Books

I'd say she's probably reading at the level 5 now. That said, she doesn't seem to be actually reading them properly. She's got a set of around 4 at each of the levels 1&2 and has pretty much learnt the stories. They're Peppa Pig ones and for e.g. often when it says Granny, she'll say Grandma. So I'm not sure if she's reading them or if she's just learnt the story iyswim.

Unfortunately we discovered that lots of these early reader packs including the ladybird ones are not great for a struggling ready as they aren't very decodable.

We got some songbirds phonics books when we had a child that needed extra practice which went down much better.

The library can be a good place to start to look as they will have lots of different types look for the word phonics somewhere on the cover.

You could get her signed up for Nessy Reading and Spelling on computer - costs about £8/month and is really fun

I think she does understand and for the most part is accurate, she just gets lazy as she knows the stories. I had a chat with her today and we established she's on level 5 of the Oxford reading tree books in school.

We had to keep changing books. I have a video on my phone of DS2 just before his 3rd birthday "reading" the Gruffalo. He had memorized it!
songbirds level 5 should be the same level as the ORT. Think the stories go up to level 6 in that series.
You can also sign up to Oxford Owl, who have their books graded and available electronically for free. Same books as the reading scheme ones. And not so brilliant to use on a tablet if your child still wants to use a finger under the words (touch screens and running fingers along text is a bad combination, I discovered!).
Think Reading Chest will send books to you if you subscribe, but we are abroad so I never investigated it.

Aww bless him! My brother did the same with some of his books growing up. I think we're just going to have to change them. Tbf she's had the same books read to her / starting reading them herself since my Mum bought them for her last Christmas. Obviously she has other books but they're the only phonic ones so she must have read them about 20/30 x each!

I am not sure that ORT and Songbirds equate exactly. My DS is given green/level 5 ORT books but level 6 Songbirds by school. Having said that, you can be quite relaxed about levels if you want. I find that there can be quite a variation even on the same level.
