Reception Flu Vaccination

Just had the letter through for the flu vaccination from the school but its addressed from the local NHS service.

I used to take my kids to the gp to get the flu vaccination - so is it now done in schools?

The problem I have is that my son had a reaction to the nasal sprays and we had to use the jab instead. It seems at schools they only offer the nasal spray?

So am I allowed to reject taking it at school and making my own arrangements? I don't want to be seen as some sort of anti vacc pariah.

Does the School deal with this or should I just inform the local health authority? I assume the letters are returned to the School?

Of course you can opt out of the school one. Just send the letter back refusing permission and get the usual one from your gp

Yes, the school ask for your consent. I would phone gp and ask for advice as maybe school will have jags.

Well he has had sinusitis - now the GP said its possibly not related but couldn't discount it. I thought why take the risk when he doesn't mind the jabs?

I don't mind paying for them as the cost £10? is worth way less than an upset child.

I just don't want the school to see me as one of those problem parents.

Yeah you are right not to risk it. Will look out for that.
