Year 6 SATs booster classes. What to expect?

DC has been invited to 2 booster classes to prepare for SATs. I don't mind if it is something that will benefit the child, but I heard that the teacher doing the booster classes in the school is well known for leaving the kids the next day without playtime if the didn't finish their work.

I take that booster classes are optional and in benefit of the child, but wondering if they normally send their own homework (which would be extra, on top of the school homework). And as I take it, "out of school hours" =meaning should not affect normal school day, so actually the kids should not be punished with no playtime. I would like to know what I should expect.

Depends on the school, surely?

They should be a positive experience, in a small group, to focus on specific things, for free. Preferably with biscuits. I wouldn't expect extra homework.

If they aren't positive then don't do them.

A school that has taught well for 7 years shouldn't need to do booster classes. However free small group tuition could be great.
