Milbourne Lodge or Shrewsbury House pre prep?

My son has a place at both schools for reception 2019 entry. Hard to tell if He’s really academic yet but He is a bright and capable boy. He also appears to be a sporty kid. We initially choose Shrewsbury when he was 6 months old and Mrs Hope was still head with the view of going on to the House at 7. I’m now not convinced it’s the school that it once was and there seems to be a lot of negativity surrounding it. I absolutely love the head at Milbourne but there’s no doubt that the facilities are superior at Shrewsbury. My biggest concern in choosing Milbourne is the sports side. I’m also starting to wonder if the full on exam schedule at the House is just too much. Anyone have recent experience of either or both? Thanks

What do you think that Milbourne doesn’t offer with sport that you want? They do 35min of sport a day in reception and KS1, with a specialist teacher, then from Year 3 an hour a day. Plus lots of extra curricular offerings.

I guess I just want the reassurance that Milbourne does take sport seriously. l have been told in the past that if you have a sporty child send them to Shrewsbury, if you have an academic child send them to Milbourne - this could well be an out dated or incorrect opinion, which is why I am asking questions. I just want to sure we are choosing the best all round school for our Son.

They are both good schools, go with the closest, easiest commute. The roadworks around Esher/Long Ditton/Claygate make getting anywhere impossible!
