Collins Big Cat Reading Scheme

My DC's primary has recently purchased the Collins Big Cat reading scheme to replace their outdated scheme.

DC1 had real difficulty learning to read with the school's old scheme, so I ended up doing research at the time and purchasing some decodable readers to read at home. This really helped.

I can't find any examples of the insides of the earlier stages of the Collins Big Cat books on the internet so I was hoping someone who has experience of this scheme could advise me.

Are the earlier books in this scheme decodable, or do they use the look and say method? Do your kids like them?

Youngest DC is in reception and will start bringing these home soon. I'm really hoping learning to read is more enjoyable this time round.

It really depends upon what they've actually purchased. Like many publishers Collin's Big Cat were firmly Look and Say (700 books) but in recent years they've added Big Cat Phonics (60 decodable plus a further 72 for more practice)
Both these are early books but one relies on repetition and guessing from pictures.

Thank you for your reply. I'll have to wait and see.
We have Jelly and Bean and Songbirds at home to supplement.
