After-school care in Putney

Hi all,

my DD is due to start reception next year in Putney and I'm trying to evaluate schools also by their after-school activities.

I know there are activities such as "wraparound" (not sure I can put the link here, but it's not hard to find) but I struggle to find out what activities they actually carry out. Based on my (very small, admittedly) sample of mums with children going there, feelings are mixed - with some mums saying children are not doing much and other saying children are reluctant to go, but enjoy it when they're there.

Has anyone had any experience in that sense (positive, negative, anything really Smile)?

Also, are there other similar activities (I couldn't find any other...)?

Hey. My son also may start at a Putney prep next Sept. We're overseas at the moment but likely to return next year and actually have to accept the place this month.
I registered at Hurlingham, Prospect House and Merlin. Looked Roche too but didn't register there. Of all of them Hurlingham stuck out for having the best wraparound and the higher proportion of two working parent families. I specifically asked each Head about this.

Oh sorry I don't think I've answered your question! I don't know about the actual wraparound activities except at the specific schools I mentioned.

Not to be sorry at all, jellycat! In fact, thank you for highlighting some of the options you've gone through.

As we're both working, we're actually torn between state and independent schools, the main reason being after-school care. The former schools (or at least the ones we fall in the catchment area of) have a limited wraparound, while the latter ones seem to offer a more comprehensive wraparound (at some price, which I'm still not quite sure about - actually, if you don't mind, could you please share the fees for some sample clubs?).

We received an offer for Hurlingham, too, but we decided not to accept it...

Let's see if other mums have other experiences ;)
