CLFS or Downsend?

Hi there,

Am considering both schools for Y3 entry for our DD. She loves drama and is sporty. She is smart but not top level. Looking for a well rounded school that is nurturing, dynamic, has modern teaching, and able to add value and bring out the best in a child alongside great academic results. If we go with Downsend then Epsom College would be the next move at 11+, otherwise continue at CLFS until 18.

I would be really interested to hear thoughts from current parents at all 3 schools and those that have a similar choice. We have visited all 3 schools and finding it a tough decision.

Also are there any other local schools we should be considering?

Many thanks for your help!

CLFS can be a pretty brutal and unforgiving place, the pastoral care there is poor to non existent, lots of bullying. And the sport is very biased towards the boys - they get more squads, better facilities and more matches than the girls. Downsend much more caring and nurturing. But it's moving to go up to GCSEs so there won't be the emphasis on getting your child into the next school.

What about St Teresas Effingham? Excellent drama, music is very good and they are National Champions in hockey and swimming. Fab facilities and the pastoral care is very good.
