Wondering if anyone has any tips on how to increase/encourage intrinsic motivation in younger children?
DS is 6 and although very bright he isn't very motivated at all and isn't really fulfilling his potential. He's at the stage where he will shortly have to sit assessments to gain entry to his next school, and we want to find the best fit for him. His teachers say he's a rising star, but may not be ready by January, which is when the assessments take place. He can't stay where he is as the school finishes at year 2.
We don't want to sell him short with our next choice of school because he's a late bloomer, and want to encourage him to reach his potential. Any ideas on how we could work towards increasing his motivation?
