Year 2 Maths

DD finished year 1 on expected for maths but had since dropped to below. We had parents evening today.

We felt she was behind over the summer and have been doing 10 - 20 minutes a day for 4 days a week on number bonds, place value, simple addition etc and I have seen improvement at home but she still seems to have fallen behind.

The teacher wasn't overly worried and to carry on at home but should I be worried ? I am.

Is she below because they have only completed less than a sixth of the curriculum though? Surely logic dictates that she will be as the assessment is now based on the end of year expectations? We have to do a similar report and it's annoying as it worries parents unnecessarily.

They said she was moved to the bottom table. I think there are two above.

Might be an idea to check how the school are assessing. Some schools will be assessing against end of year criteria, some will only be assessing against the objectives that have been covered so far.
