Primary state schools in North London

Hello all parents! We are looking to relocate to London by early 2019 with two children in Group 4 (girl) and Group 2 (boy). We will be going through an in-year admission.

We are looking for a nice characteristic area of London with good state primary schools with reasonable chance of getting in (!).

In terms of areas we really like Hampstead/ St. Johns Woods/Belsize and are prepared to have a substantially smaller place but nice living experience. Second preference Crouch End and Muswell Hill and maybe West Hampstead. Do you have experience with state schools there and if so, could you recommend some names?

Are there also more reasonably priced private schools? We looked at Saint Christina, which was more reasonable in terms of costs, but they do not take boys into Group 2 yet.

In terms of logistics, my husband will be working in Canary Wharf and myself at Bank station. Maybe we missed some nice areas? Thank you all!

What exactly is Group 2 and Group 4? Haven't heard that terminology before.
St Christina’s is a nice school. Probably slipped well out of elite or sought after prep list nowadays. It has a falling roll and is generally seen as second tier. You're paying to have children in a nice environment essentially but not academically rigorous compared to other preps. Depends what you're after.
