Admissions - how do I tell which school we could get into?

Sorry probably a stupid question but...

When I look at the school offers map (showing where the pupils live at the time of the offer) it looks like we could get DS into some schools that are actually quite far away.

But presumably some of those places were given to younger siblings/looked after children/children with a specific need for that school etc.

So is there any way to tell how likely we are to get a place just on distance?

Struggling with which schools to bother looking at!

(Should add owing to bus routes and my health issues some of the far away schools would actually be easier to get to than closer ones)

Council allocation maps, in my LEA are first offers on distance and don't include looked after, siblings etc. Double check that's not the case with your council.

My council offters breakdowns of numbers admitted in each category.
Looked after children, siblings, distance etc. But only for their own community schools, not academies or faith schools who organise their own admissions.

Ask your LA - ours publish the last admitted distance under each admission criteria (and they do this on the day the offers are made).

Oh great, I just found their map so far but will do a bit of digging.

Thanks all!
