Hi there, I am unhappy with DD current school and considering moving her to another school that we like out of borough.

The prospective school have advised me to let my current borough know, and then fill out an application to transfer. As we are not 100% at the moment, would there be any chance that the borough would inform our current school? Or would they just let me know as/when a place becomes available?

I dont really want the headteacher to know until we've been offered a place and are definately going to take it.

I'm sure when we did it we just rang the LEA admissions, said we wanted to do a school transfer application and it went through from there. Original school should have been informed when it went through but actually weren't and we had a rather awkward absence chasing phonecall moment!

Ok, thanks for your experience.

Some local authorities like to discourage people changing schools when they haven't moved house and will inform the current school or even try to force you to get the application form signed by the current school. The head may be informed, they may not. No-one can say for sure. Sorry.

Ok, thanks, at least I know that it’s probably likely.

I did similar moved DS to Haringey school from hackney school. Refused offer twice initially from Haringey school, current school wasn't informed.

That's good to know, thanks.
