Chalfont St Peter - Robertswood school

Hello we are moving to Chalfont St Peter in early 2019 and will apply for an in year school place as our son is in year 1. Our nearest school is Robertswood although we are also in the catchment for CSP infants (but we understand we've little chance of getting a space). I've heard mixed views on Robertswood on posts from 2017 but looking at their website they seem to be getting better results now and had a good Ofsted. Does anyone know how their last lot of 11+ results went too? Id love views on the school too. I know there is also the CSP academy from year 3 but I'm not sure id want to move son twice in a short space of time plus I've heard it's 3 form entry so very big. Really we just want a school where our son will be happy and can do well with our support. Thanks!

I cannot comment on the school because I don’t know it well enough. I would look at their progress data though to give you an up to date view on how well children do there.

11 plus results are not published. Schools don’t teach for the exam. Therefore you really have to know that your child is bright enough for the grammar and give them tuition. The schools rarely discuss likely 11 plus outcomes with parents.

When a Bucks school gets many, or a few, to the grammar schools it’s not necessarily to do with the school being Good. Although that helps. Ensuring children make excellent progress is a great help but there are other factors such as parental background, coaching, ability and personality of the child which make such a difference. If you are well educated, have professional jobs, your child is working at greater depth and you are willing/able to pay for coaching then your DC stands a better chance. Just don’t expect choice of school to get a child over the line.

The catchment areas of schools make a big difference to the 11 plus results in Bucks. Some schools get lots going to the Grammars and some schools get hardly any, but they might all be Good schools. Check Robertswood out and see what you think.
