Do I send my daughter in to primary school with a set of spare clothes?

No they should have spare clothes in case of accidents.

Friolero · 20/08/2018 08:15

By that I meant the school will have spare clothes!

YeTalkShiteHen · 20/08/2018 08:16

I do, because the school asked us to. Check if there are spare clothes in your DDs school, not all schools have them.

Sirzy · 20/08/2018 08:17

Unless they are prone to accidents I wouldn’t. Schools will have spares for emergencies

Unless asked to or arranged with the school - no. I do with DD2 but she has continence problems so it's been pre-arranged with the school that I'll provide spares.

Reception teacher here - yes please! She'll probably have a peg to hang it on. It could stay there all term unused, or it could get used regularly. Water play means they often get wet!

Our school ask for spare pants and socks/tights to be kept in their PE bag. If needed, they put them into their tracksuit bottoms.

INcidentally the socks often got used after the kids got wet at playtime, rather than for accidents.

wendz86 · 20/08/2018 10:55

I did as the school said some children prefer to have their own clothes rather than spare. Only in reception though.

LadyPenelope68 · 20/08/2018 10:58

Primary School Teacher here - no thank you, there’s no space to store 20/30 sets of spare clothes. We’ve got spare stuff, and they only need changing if they’ve had a wee/poo accident really.

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 20/08/2018 11:24

I did in his book bag (pants and school trousers) as ds was still having some accidents (1 a half term for first two terms) when he started R.
If you use the spares from school though MAKE SURE YOU RETURN THEM!!!!!!!!

IWantMyHatBack · 20/08/2018 11:28

Don't bother. If there's some reason they need to charge they can always wear their PE kit.

RavenWings · 20/08/2018 11:38

Depends on the classroom. Where I work we have plenty of double coat hooks outside, so there's loads of space to store a change there. Ask the teachers.

kelpete0785 · 22/08/2018 10:34

Thank you very much. My daughter is going to reception in September, so I just wanted to make sure

Primary School teacher and I think it is a good idea- we do have spare clothes however if you just put a spare set of pants and socks in your child's PE bag it does not take up much space and if your child has an accident they have spare underwear and can wear their PE kit if needed.

Spare items hardly ever gets brought back to school :(
