Hi
Wanting a french & piano tutor for DD who is starting reception next month. She has had some french lessons in nursery & mandarin which she really enjoyed. Keen to develop her foreign language skills as well as start her on the piano early as she runs to one anytime she shes one.
Ideally want to start off with 30min lessons to see how she gets on.

Does anyone have any recommendations for Sydenham & surrounding areas?!!

Nothing specific for your area, but my DD started French lessons when she was in Reception, with the franchise La Jolie Ronde. DD still loves the small group lessons, but a lot of that is down to her teacher who really makes it fun for the children, so it'd depend on the teacher in your area.

Thanks, I'll look into it. Rough idea on cost and did you do 30 min or 1hr sessions?

It's 30 min sessions in a small group. Very cheap - a fiver or so per lesson (we pay termly so not sure exact cost) - though this is West Midlands so I guess it might cost more where you are.

It was very much done through play in DD's class when she started at age 5: the would play a familiar game incorporating the current topics, eg a version of grandmother's footsteps or matching bingo. Now she's gone up a group it's a bit more formal, though they still play games and do imaginative things like the group works together to invent a story which they write out in French.

DD now brings cribsheets home with some vocab or some details about how to construct a sentence in different tenses etc. To be honest though, we rarely look at this between classes.

The best thing is that DD has shown herself to be a good mimic, and has really developed a lovely accent much like her teacher, who is French.

Blackheads Conservatoire for music lessons or wait until she starts school and ask the teachers and parents.
